Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) In January 2006, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the DRNA and the Fundación Puertorriqueña de las Humanidades (FPH, Puerto Rico Foundation for the Humanities), by which the agency undertook to provide materials and information to assist in completing the Environment, Geography and Natural Resources Section of the Enciclopedia de Puerto Rico (EPR, Encyclopedia of Puerto Rico). At the signing of the agreement, held in the offices of Secretary Javier Vélez Arocho, Dr. Juan M. González Lamela, the Executive Director of the FPH and Director of the project, and Dr. Ivonne Acosta Lespier, the Editor and General Manager of the first edition of the EPR, also took part, as did Prof. María Calixta Ortiz, the Editor of the Environmental Section and Associate Professor of the School of Environmental Studies of the Universidad Metropolitana (UMET), a campus of the Ana G. Méndez University System. Department of Education(DE) On February 27, 2006, a Cooperation Agreement was signed by the Fundación Puertorriqueña de las Humanidades (FPH, Puerto Rico Foundation for the Humanities) and the Puerto Rico Departamento de Educación (DE, Puerto Rico Department of Education) for the participation of the agency in the Enciclopedia de Puerto Rico (EPR, Encyclopedia of Puerto Rico) Project. The EPR was represented by Dr. Juan M. González Lamela, as the director of the project and Executive Director of the FPH. Dr. Rafael Aragunde Torres, the Secretary of Education, represented the Department of Education in the signing. It was agreed that arrangements would be made for cooperation between the two entities so that the content of the EPR would be consistent with the general curriculum of the intermediate and high schools of the DE. This does not prevent the EPR from including, in parallel fashion, texts of interest to the broadest readership that provide greater breadth or fuller interpretation. Similarly, the DE agrees to participate by allowing access to special collections, previously developed materials, and other digital matter that may be available now or in the future (in the case that the DE holds the copyright). http://www.de.gobierno.pr |
