San Cristóbal fort

In our efforts to become more effective and help the public understand and appreciate our mission to continue the preservation of the San Juan National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the National Park Service is proud to present the publication of the Catalogue San Juan, a City that Grew Beyond its Walls, as a supplement to the Exhibition of the same name.

The Catalogue includes a description of documents, photographs, and maps, that will jointly serve the purpose of interpreting the history of the site's historic walls, and the adjoining neighborhood of Puerta de Tierra, presenting its historic, military, economic, social, architectural, and cultural dimensions, highlighting Fort San Cristobal as a historic icon in the urban development of this portion of the Islet, from the second half of the 19th century until the early 1920s.
